EV startup Canoo plans to start production of its first vehicle at a new plant in Oklahoma by the end of 2023.

Lordstown Motors Endurance
Planned: 2023

This financially troubled startup has sold its former GM plant in Lordstown, Ohio, to Foxconn, a Taiwanese manufacturer.

Foxconn started production of the pickup and also invested in the startup.

Lordstown hopes to produce 500 trucks by 2023 and ramp up.

A complete crew car with a new AWD system with a separate motor in each wheel arch and a combined output of 440 hp.

The truck will have a payload of 1,050 pounds and will be able to tow up to 8,000 pounds. Final specs and pricing are yet to be announced.

 

GMC Sierra Electric Company
Target: 2024

As with most gas-powered pickup trucks, the GMC Sierra EV is an advanced version of the Chevrolet Silverado EV.

The launch will be the Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 will feature a GM Ultium battery system, an all-wheel drive motor, up to 754 hp, DC charging up to 350 kW, and a maximum range of 400 kilometers.

Among the features will be an adjustable air suspension, GM’s Super Cruise system that can be used while towing, a towing capacity of 9,500 pounds, and a system to activate the devices outdoors up to 10 .2kW.

Like the Silverado EV, the GMC features a center pass-through to extend the 6-bed interior by an additional 3 feet.

RAM 1500 EV
Target: 2024

So far, Ram has only shown a concept of the full 1500 EV plan, with few details beyond its planned production in 2024.

The government will ride on the new Stellantis platform designed for electric vehicles.

Tesla Cybertruck
Target: End of 2023?

Tesla’s Cybertruck is currently delayed and is expected to enter mass production by the end of 2023, sources told Reuters.

Tesla previously said that the crew truck with a unique triangular shape and a 6.5-foot bed will eventually offer single-, dual- and three-wheel drive modes for rear or all-wheel drive, providing up to 500 kilometers of autonomy.

The concept marks the debut of a new premium electric car developed by sister company Porsche that will underpin other new electric vehicles, possibly including the Q6 e-Tron SUV.

The A6 e-Tron features an all-wheel drive with two motors producing a combined power of 469 hp, DC fast charging power of up to 270 kW, and a maximum range of over 400 kilometers.

Expected: end of 2023

BMW’s 5 Series mid-size sedan is being redesigned for 2024, and as with the newly redesigned 7 Series, it’s expected to offer a full range of electric powertrains, including an electric i5 sedan. Details are yet to come.

 

Chrysler EV Sedan
Planned: 2025

Stellantis brand Chrysler has announced it will deliver an electric vehicle by 2025 on track to become an all-electric brand by 2028.

At the 2022 Consumer Electronics Show, it rolled out a mostly down-to-earth Airflow Concept sedan -land that could hint at the direction of a production EV.

Target: 2024

Planned: early 2024

VW’s first electric sedan was unveiled in camouflage at the 2023 Consumer Electronics Show, with the Passat’s four-door sedan appearing to share badges with the current ID, and its SUV sharing a platform with a modular EV model.

Volkswagen did not provide any details on the ID.
